Why schedule a conference?

The "Looking for the Leaders" one-day Student Leadership Conference is a great way for administrators and youth pastors to expose their students to instruction in principles of Biblical Leadership. This conference has been developed to cover basic principles of Leadership in a single day. The "Looking for the Leaders" conference is really an abbreviation of the full 3-day regional conferences held every fall. Many schools who have regularly participated in the 3-day regional conferences first previewed the Leadership material by either hosting or attending a one-day conference. School administrators and pastors are encouraged to consider one-day conferences for the following reasons:

  • To preview the Leadership material
  • To set a day aside for spiritual emphasis
  • To promote unity within your school
  • As a follow-up to a regional conference
  • To encourage your students to be Biblical Leaders

How much does a conference cost?

One-day conferences are less expensive than 3-day regional conferences. The main financial burden includes 1) Speakers transportation costs, and 2) Meal for the students. Student Leadership Conferences seeks to keep the costs very minimal for one-day conferences. The following financial scheme is recommended by the SLC office:

  • $10 charge per student/sponsor in attendance.

This is divided three ways ...

  • $4/individual to cover lunch expenses at the conference
  • $4/individual to cover the travel expenses of the speaker
  • $2/individual to AACS Student Leadership Conferences for materials and others expenses

What should I consider when scheduling a conference?

  • What time of year would best meet the needs of your school?
  • Are there any specific dates that would work well for a conference?
  • Where would you plan to host the conference? Your church/school? Another facility?
  • Approximately how many students from your school would be involved in the conference?
  • Are there any other schools that would be interested in participating in the conference?
  • Could the Student Leadership Conference Office help by promoting the one-day conference to other schools?
