Philosophy

Today's Christian teen is faced with an innumerable host of pressures from the world. Today's information age presents teens with new battles from every front. Temporal and carnal desires are exalted, worldly philosophy is proclaimed and embraced, and materialism makes its daily progress into the fabric of our culture. Teens in our youth groups and Christian schools are not immune to these pressures, for even in the sheltered environment of our churches and Christian schools, spiritual battles are being waged.

The Christian teen is not alone in this spiritual battle, however. God's Word is still the Christian's spiritual armor, unfailing in its truth, tireless in its relevancy. The truth of Scripture confronts the evil of our culture. In its pages, we see Christ, the supreme example of righteousness; we see the cross, the symbol of our redemption; and we see the character of God, the anchor for our existence. God's Word transforms the vile sinner. In the midst of increasing degradation and evil, the Christian may stand firm in his faith and above reproach in his lifestyle.

The Student Leadership Conferences ministry exists because of a commitment to these biblical realities. Every Christian teen has the resources to live a godly life, and each one has the potential to exert great positive influence upon his peers. Through the study of God's word, Christian teens may be equipped to confront the evil in their homes, churches, schools, and places of work. With proper training and complete dependence upon God, teens may successfully engage in the spiritual battles of secular culture.

The purpose of Student Leadership Conferences is to provide an intense training time for students who are serious about being Biblical leaders. Leadership training sessions focus on helping students recognize and resolve common problems faced by high school students. Students are exhorted to grow in their relationship with God and to develop lifestyles that are thoroughly Biblical. Teens are taught to lead others by serving them and by following Christ's example of humility and obedience.
