A Christmas video message from
Dr. Matt Williams to our ministry partners and friends.
I learned that I cannot be neutral when people do bad things in front of me. I also learned that I need to speak up for right. I want to be a good example to the younger girls in our school, instead of trying to be “the cool one.” I’ve realized I need to be more respectful to my teachers even if they tease. I am working on what I say to others and thinking before I speak. Student
Having come to this conference when in high school, I really enjoyed it. The Lord spoke to me. I changed some things, but forgot them as time went on. Now, coming back as a counsellor, I see the need to restore some principles in my life that I have been letting slip away. I have recommitted my life to living by these principles with your dedication. Thank you SLC you’ve all been such a blessing! Sponsor
Today God taught me that I should try to be more loving and that I shouldn’t be silent in relationships because that can show approval and in some cases lead to conflict because people haven’t talked things over. Student
Treat people equally with others, even if they are “annoying” or unlovely. I realize that we don’t obey God and try to please Him because we’re expecting something in return. We obey Him because we love Him, because He died for us. He didn’t have to do any of that for us, so we should love Him in return. Even if we don’t love Him, He still deserves it, we should honor Him. Student
Being a good friend and having good friends. I went to public school last year. I didn’t have Christ-honoring friends; I had friends who said bad things. I even forgot what Bible class felt like and reading the Bible with classmates. I had thousands of opportunities to tell them about Christ yet I was scared they would say no to me. I prayed and prayed but now I know what to do. I will use all 10 principles in my life. Thank you! This was a great experience for me. This conference has made an impact on my life. Student
To stay on the right path and not hangout with fools. Be a good friend to my friends. Pray for them if they are in a rough time or have a problem. Student
Something I learned was about the Biblical Friend. That a model friend is one committed to help his friend realize God’s purpose and potential for his life. Another thing was you can’t stay neutral and silence means approval. Student
I learned that I need to get outside my circle of friends and go out of my way to show Christ’s love to others. And I need to be a leader not just let other people always be the example. Student
He taught me how to be a better friend, daughter, and sister. He spoke to me about how I should talk about His word more with friends. Student
I learned that to be a good leader you need to be a good friend. I prayed for 5 years that I would be able to come to leadership camp. I’d heard about it and wanted to go. Now that I have experienced this I am so grateful. My heart is full and my cup is running over. I pray that when I get back to my school I can be the good Christian leader that I need to be. Student
I appreciate the real life examples! Don’t stay silent. That’s a principle for me to keep in mind and action as I move from parent to grandparent—to be a good influence in my family’s life with God’s guidance. Thank for your love for teens! Sponsor
God has spoken to me to be more of a leader to others, and to stand up for what is right even if it isn’t the easy thing. And God has also spoken to me to make more right choices in my life, because those choices you would make will affect your future for the rest of your life. And to also stay more faithful in Christ and to follow Him every step of the way. Student
I learned that sometimes we don’t realize how much influence as a leader we have. My mind goes to my little sister. She adores me, wants to do everything I do. But I never thought about by doing wrong things that I’m leading her down the wrong path. We have to make sure as leaders that we are leading our followers down God’s path. Student
I never really talk to my friends about God. I have always known I should, I just didn’t. This has been very convicting in that aspect, and I am going to make an effort to talk about scripture and God with my friends. Thank you. Student
Something that really stood out to me today was that everyone in some way has an influence on the people around them. We can either be a good influence to inspire others to be more like Christ, or be a bad influence and bring others farther from Christ. I never realized how much effect I had on others. I am going to try very hard to make sure my actions are honoring God. Student
I was really challenged with the whole idea of being a model friend. Its not all that easy to be the example to my friends and other classmates. And sometimes I don’t feel like doing it. But I have decided to work on it with God’s help. Student
Well this conference has really helped me a lot, there is this guy I was really close with but then we both agreed that it would better if we were just friends instead of anything more because school has been really stressful. Learning about just everything that goes along with being friends helped. And now I’m sure that I’ve made the right decision to just be friends with him. Student
The Lord taught me that there are definitely some aspects of my life that I need to work on, such as: being a better friend. I say that because there are definitely some times where the things I do, do NOT glorify God and as a senior I need to learn to be a better example/friend to people even if I don’t know them. Student
I wasn’t sure how to feel coming at first today, but I am really thankful that I did come. I learned how to be a better friend and how to prioritize things in my life. I want to show God’s glory just not by my words but my actions to people who don’t know me too. Student
You did a great job in teaching the young people what God desires to be in their lives. I thought “How to destroy relationship” was excellent, down on their level, so they could relate to what God wants in their lives. To be Christ like. Sponsor
I learned from the SLC that I need to reach out more. Too often Christians are isolated or have their cliques. We need to be insulated and not isolated – reaching out not only to the unbelievers, but also to believers. Student
I thought that it was very interesting that we are all leaders and that we all have something we can do to show leadership, and that all of us can be leaders with a different purpose. Also, this conference showed me how to be a friend to everyone and not just my closest friends. Student
I need to work on being a real friend who encourages my friends and points them towards God instead of being passive. I also have a friend going down the wrong path that I need to talk to more often about the wrong things instead of simply accepting the choice she has made. Student
I learned that “Silence can be approval.” Some of my friends talk about things that are wrong and I just sit and say nothing, but that is wrong. I need to stick up for myself and my God to tell them what they are doing is wrong. Student
One of my public school friends is heading down the wrong path, and I have not yet confronted him on it, and God has taught me not to be afraid or ashamed. Student
